AWA TOPO PRINT: WAIAPU

These AWA TOPO prints are a geocultural chart of river catchments in Ngāti Porou. They are 5 prints in total, and were researched and created by Campbell Ngata, a Gisborne-based Maths teacher (with the assistance of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage). The AWA TOPO charts combine Maths concepts with taha Māori to create a resource aimed at developing mātauranga awa amongst uri of Ngāti Porou - he does this by simply displaying the main connections from MAUNGA to MOANA, and preserving names our TĪPUNA gifted to spark some interest and conversation.
